Dani caught that acting bug in a summer camp production of Peter Pan. She was banned from auditions after raiding the boys' bunks but after bugging the director for weeks, he created a role for her in the ensemble. "Dumbo" was the lost boy who stole the show.
ACTOR
A native New Yorker, Daniella is a graduate of NYU Tisch School of the Arts at the Stella Adler Studio. Since graduating, Daniella has worked Off-Broadway and in Regional Theater as well as on camera, earning her a Best Actress Award with nVision East’s Pearson Academy Awards. Whether in dark drama or light comedy, Rabbani has garnered rave reviews. Daniella starred in the National Yiddish Theater’s production of Gimpel the Fool and The New York Observer “particularly admired Daniella Rabbani’s sympathetic utterly alive performance”. Most recently, Daniella played Vanessa Clay, a Catholic School Mean-Girl in Felipe Ossa’s Monetizing Emma at HERE Arts Center. The Wall Street Journal called her performance “hysterical” while NYTheater raved “Daniella Rabbani is simply hilarious”.
SINGER
Daniella has the honor of singing with and learning from award winning musical and artistic director Zalmen Mlotek. The two tour with Mlotek’s “100 Years of Yiddish Theater”. New York concerts include Jazz at Lincoln Center, Town Hall, Baruch Performing Arts, CUNY's Concert Series, The Center for Jewish History and other prestigious venues across the country. As guest vocalist for The Klez Dispensers and The Foolish Band, Daniella performs at DROM, City Winery and Barbes among others.
VOICEOVER ARTIST
Daniella records voiceovers in several languages. (She's fluent in Hebrew, conversant in Yiddish and has a nack for accents and languages. Thanks Dad!) She is featured in PBS’ Triangle Fire, providing the voices for a variety of historical personalities. Her voice can also be heard guiding you through world hot-spots including The Ellis Island Immigration Museum, The Grand Palais’ Richard Serra Exhibit, NYC’s Chagall Exhibit at The Jewish Museum and more.
PLAYWRIGHT
Rachel and Leah: A New Musical written by Rebecca Keren and Daniella Rabbani and Composed by 5 time Tony nominee and theater legend Elizabeth Swados. Rachel and Leah marks Daniella’s first full length musical. The project, inspired by the writers’ sisters, is based on the sisterhood of Rachel and Leah, of Bible fame. The musical examines the delicate and sacred relationship between sisters. It’s premiere staged reading was held at La MaMa E.T.C. on April 12 to a sold out crowd. The audience was moved to their feet thanks to a stellar cast and the musical direction of Kris Kukul (Williamstown Theater Festival).
EDUCATOR
Rabbani helped kickstart the Stella Adler Outreach Division upon graduating the Studio. In its inaugural year, Daniella headed up the movement division as she devised and directed the year end performance piece. Daniella apprentices under Jena Necrason, head of Movement at Stella Adler, and continues to be a teaching artist at the studio.
